The place is good for picnics and for kids to run around, especially after a a swim. Chairs are dotted around for the parents and big trees provide shade.

Off`to one side, raised higher than the rest of the park and separated from it by a driveway, is a much smaller, fenced section with barbecues, tables, toilets and a playground suitable for young kids.

The two sections have separate entrances from the road, but are linked too.

Around Hornsby Park are key locations like Hornsby TAFE, the Aquatic Centre and Hornsby Police Station. Within walking distance are the local train station and Westfield Hornsby.
