At a Glance: Set on acres of land this Model Park is home to the 'Sydney Society of Model Engineers'. See a model train exhibit. Watch first hand model cars, tether cars, model aeroplanes and model boats in action. Drive and race on the indoor slot car track, Experience a gorgeous mini train ride through the lovely manicured station with its two bridges, tunnels and lots of scenery.
Cost: $8.00 for walk in or bike, $15.00 per car,
train rides are $3.00 each and Slot car hire is $4.00. Food available starting at about $3.00. All the money from the open days goes towards the maintainence of the grounds.
Opening Times: Their open day is on the last Sunday of each month except in December.
BBQs: Are available for the public to use once you have paid the entry fee.
Dogs: are allowed if they are quiet, safe dogs and on leads.
Kiosk or Cafe: Is available on site. It is run by volunteers and is running each open day. With a BBQ lunch, refreshments, snacks, meat pies, steak sandwiches, sausage rolls and hot tea and coffee. Seating is available inside or outside.
Playground: A lovely playground for the kids is located right beside the picnic table area. It has swings and two double slides.
Shade: The picnic tables have a roof on them, the play area doesn't. Most of the grassed areas are pretty open so make sure you bring a hat and sunscreen.
Tables: Covered picnic tables are available or normal table and chairs can be used inside the canteen area.
Toilets: Are on site and are clean and tidy.
Age Suitability: Any age.
Parking: Plenty of parking available on the grass once you have paid the entry fee.
Description: The Sydney Society of Model Engineers is the oldest model engineering club in Australia. It's also the oldest operating frequently model engineering club in the entire world! Here you get to see all forms of model engineering on the one site. They run open days for the public once a month except in December. All the members and volunteers are passionate about what they do. They can answer any questions that you may have. There is so much to see and do its a great place to bring the whole family. Take a train ride, hire a slot car, watch different radio controlled cars racing on dirt hills and tracks and large model aircraft flying above your head. Take in the lovely scenery and enjoy some lunch in the outdoor picnic area with a playground for the kids. Come along and check out the tether cars reaching speeds of up to 320 Kmph before your very eyes. Find a new hobby and show the kids that fun existed before the Internet.
