Located right on the water next to the Captain Cook Bridge in Sans Souci, this scenic park is the perfect spot to sit back and relax whilst your kids let off some steam running around in all the green space and climbing their way through the cool playground.
The playground has two different climbing apparatuses. One is quite tricky and probably should only be attempted by children who like a bit of a challenge. The easier apparatus is for the novice climber like for example, younger less agile kids. There are slippery slides, spring loaded riders, whirly gigs and of course swings in the park as well, so there is actually something for everyone to play on.
The only problem is that the playground isn't shaded - so don't forget to slip slop and slap when you arrive. There is a lovely shady spot under some trees if you need to escape the summer sun.
If you fancy a stroll or ride, there is an excellent pathway that meanders along the waters edge. A short wall does separate the park and the water's edge but it can be easily scrambled over, so make sure you keep an eye on your little wanderers. The Sans Souci Wharf is also right next to the park and it is a popular fishing spot, so if you have a line you can see if anything is biting.
If you are in need of refreshments the kiosk at the Sans Souci Leisure Centre on the northern side of the park has a window that opens onto the park where you can buy ice creams, coffee, drinks and snacks. There are also toilets on the outside of this building for you to use. Otherwise pack a picnic as there are several covered picnic tables, BBQs and of course the lovely shady spot to enjoy lunch.
