When it comes to Sydney attractions for kids, we are spoilt for a great choice. Here are some fun and interactive places to visit on the weekend and during school holidays.

Australian National Maritime Museum
Address: 2 Murray Street, Darling Harbour

One of Sydney’s most popular attractions for kids with plenty of permanent exhibitions and vessels. Explore NAVY destroyer HMAS Vampire, a former navy submarine HMAS Onslow or step aboard Captain Cook’s ship Endeavour. Allow a full day for a visit to the Maritime museum as there is much to see and do.

IMAX Theatre Sydney

Why not take your children for an exciting experience at IMAX Theatre with its world biggest screen. Popular and educational movies are screened every day, many of them in 3D. As sessions often get booked out, it is a good idea to get your tickets online ahead of time.

Sydney Sea Life Aquarium
Address: Aquarium Wharf, Darling Harbour

This should be at the top of your list of Sydney attractions to visit with your kids. Recently renovated, this amazing aquarium is home to thousands of sea creatures including the adorable dugongs colourful Australiang rays, sharks and interactive exhibits. Buy your ticket online and save or buy a pass for various attractions and save even more.

Wet N Wild
Address: 425 Reservoir Road, Prospect

Sydney’s newest attraction has arrived just in time for Sydney’s summer school holidays. With over 40 slides and adventures, this is guaranteed to keep your kids amused for many hours. Suitable for even young visitors, WetNWild junior has miniature versions of thrill slides as well as southern hemisphere’s largest tipping bucket.

Madame Tussaud’s
Address: Darling Harbour

Your kids will love having their pictures taken with their music and sporting heroes. Meet historical greats, pose alongside world leaders, interact with sporting legends or hop on the stage with your favourite rock and pop stars.

While you are at Darling Harbour, why not visit this awesome state of the art attraction for kids. It’s like nothing you have ever experienced before. Powerhouse Museum

With its ever changing exhibits and programs for kids, Powerhouse Museum is a place you can visit several times throughout the year. During school holidays they hold special programs and workshops for kids of all ages including science shows and technology related classes.

Taronga Zoo

Taronga Zoo cares for 4000 animals from over 350 species. You will find a great interactive map, which helps you plan your visit to ensure you don’t miss out on seeing your kids’ favourite animals. Check their website for daily talks and shows as well as fun and exciting activities.

Cockatoo Island
Address: Cockatoo Island, Sydney

A great place to take the kids to learn and explore the wonders of our past. Visit a real convict prison, see shipbuilding machines or take part in Convict Clues or Ship Shape challenge. Access to the island is via ferry from Circular Quay or Darling Harbour.
