Sydney Park is located at St Peters, on the fringes of the city south, near Alexandria, Newtown and Marrickville. Spread out over 40 hectares of landscaped gardens, bike ways, wetlands and hills, this recently renovated park is ideal for the whole family.
A popular picnic spot, the park is also very dog friendly. It features an extensive playground which is partially sheltered and has lots of interesting equipment for children of all ages, including large climbing frames, suspension bridge, swings and slides, which are built into the side of a hill.
Another great feature of the park is the raised sandpit, which has a water tap, allowing children to wet the sand and build sandcastles.
For lunch you can relax at the Sydney Park Kiosk, which serves salads, rolls, hot foods, coffee, smoothies and ice cream for the kids. There is plenty of room and walkways, so children can ride their scooters or skateboards around while you enjoy a quiet cuppa or catch up with friends.
If you venture to the park in the morning, the kiosk serves breakfast and pastry products.
The kiosk can even organise your next function or kids birthday party including catering and kids party entertainers such as a cartoonist, face painter, Mr Incredibubble or a fairy garden hunt. Visit the Sydney Park Kiosk website for menus and more information.
Families who enjoy bike riding will find this the ideal park to go cycling, as there are extensive cycle ways including a learner’s section for children with real streets and working traffic lights. Sydney Park Cycle Centre runs various courses, suitable for parents and children. Find out more information at the Sydney Cycleways website.
Do you have a dog that needs walking? No problem – Sydney park is very pet friendly, with lots of green open spaces and water bowls and bubblers set along the footpath.
Toilets are modern, wheelchair accessible and include a baby change table. Parking is available at a small car park or at one of the side streets.
