Clontarf Reserve on Sydney's northern beaches is the perfect family spot. It has no waves, making it ideal for small children. There is a playground, plenty of grassy areas shaded by large trees. Great amenities and a kiosk for the all important coffee, snacks and ice cream.
Another harbour beach, Greenwich bathes is the ultimate beach for young children. With shade supplied by beautiful trees, you can actually sit all day on the sand and not get burnt. The beach is completely enclosed so you don't feel so frantic if your child wanders. Run by council, the beach has toys, beach beds, toilets and a great cafe close to the sand. For all these amenities you do pay a tiny admission fee but its worth it for the beach toys alone! No need to lug the noodle, ball and bucket! Parking is street only but as it is quiet, the surrounding streets seem to be enough. A perfect place to meet your mummy friends midweek.
