Is there a lovelier spot in Autumn than the Blue Mountains? To make the most of this beautiful time of year, pack up the car with the whole family and a picnic and head to Wentworth Falls Lake. Located approximately 1.5 hours from the centre of Sydney, this lake is a secret gem, hidden in the back streets of Wentworth Falls.

There is so much to see and do at Wentworth Falls Lake, like feed all of the ducks. These noisy quackers are all over the lake and are very hungry, so make sure you bring some stale old bread with you.

Play in the awesome playgrounds. There are two at the lake. The first one has your typical swings, slippery slides and climbing equipment and the second one is an very cool pirate ship. You need to be careful here as the pirate ship playground is not enclosed. You are near the road and of course the lake, so make sure you keep an eye on your kids at all times.

After your play you can have a wander around the lakes edge. This is an easy 1km return walk, ideal for the whole family. It is also perfect for kids on scooters and bikes. Along the way check out out all of the very cool stone sculptures. At the end of the lakes pathway you will see a cute old wooden bridge that goes over a weir. From there you enter into a small bush walk that takes you around the other side of the lake.

If you have come prepared you can do some tadpoling, yabbying or kayaking along the way as well.

After all of your playing and exploring it is time to find a picnic spot for lunch. There are quite a few picnic tables and BBQ areas that you can use as well as lovely spots to throw down a picnic rug. If you've been a total goose and forgotten to bring something with you to eat, either pop back into Wentworth Falls village or give your kids ice cream for lunch from the Mr Whippy van!

After lunch collect some beautiful autumn leaves to take home for craft (if you are that way inclined!).
