5 More Great Sydney Water Parks
When you venture out to the park on a hot summer day, it’s great when there is a water feature for the children to play in and cool down. Here are some awesome parks and playgrounds for the whole family to enjoy. If you know of other parks, please share them below.
Sydney Waterworld
Address: Entertainment Quarter, 122 Lang Road, Moore Park
Back 2nd year in a row Sydney Waterworld is making an appearance at Moore Park between 26 December 2013 – 27 January 2014. The park will open daily from 10 am and will feature a number of giant slides including Dragon Pool, Shark Pool and Jurassic Pool. If you purchase your tickets online, you will save $5 per person. Bicentennial Park
Address: Homebush Bay Drive, Homebush
This beautiful park is spread over a large area, with lots of green grassy fields, picnic tables, barbecues, playground, cycle ways and amenities. In the centre of the park you will find Lilies on the Park, which serves not only hot food, but also snacks, coffee and ice cream. Next door to the café is bike hire, so you don’t need to bring your own. One of the more popular spots is by the extensive water feature, where children can play for hours on end. Parking at the park is free, so bring your family for a day of fun.
Steel Park
Address: Illawarra Road, Marrickville
A great playground for children during summer, with water fountains, sprinkles and flowing water. It is open between 10am – 6pm from October to March. The park also has a great playground with climbing frames, slides and swings as well as BBQs, covered picnic areas and toilets. A café is a short stroll away and the ice cream truck often stops by for a little treat.
Redfern Park
Address: Chalmers Street, Redfern
Located next to Redfern Oval, this park features a naturally shaded playground, barbecue area and pathways where children can ride their bikes and scooters. You will also find a small water feature, a water fountain as well as interesting metal structures. There are concrete benches throughout the park and a café nearby. A lovely park to explore on a warm sunny day.
Cathy Freeman Park
Address: Australia Avenue, Sydney Olympic Park
The park features a large Olympic Cauldron with cascading water where children can spend hours playing, while you picnic on the grassy area. Several playgrounds are also nearby, as are cafes, restaurants and bars. The park also runs a Kids in the Park school holiday program with lots of fun activities. During January, you can enjoy free movies under the stars at Movies by the Boulevard.
