Clifton Gardens Beach and Park
Address: Morella Road, Chowder Bay
I love discovering new places to hang out with family and friends and especially spots that have all the facilities and amenities one may need for an all day out. And Clifton Gardens is one such park. In fact, it is so much more than just a park.
Located in Mosman’s Chowder bay, this stunning location is the ultimate family weekend destination. It features a protected beach with no waves and a shark net pool, making it ideal for families with young children, who are not strong swimmers yet.
For their older siblings, there is a pier from which the kids can jump or fish and if you bring their snorkelling gear, they can explore the underwater world.
Sand on the beach is white and water is crystal clear and large palm trees provide shade on a hot summer’s day.
The park has a great new playground, which is not only enclosed, but also shaded, so children can play there for hours without getting sunburnt.
You will also find a basketball court and plenty of grassy areas where kids can play ball games, throw a frisbee or fly a kite or let them ride their scooters and skateboards along the beach pathway.
For lunch, coffee or ice cream head over to Bacino Kiosk.
Clifton Gardens is ideal for kids parties, family get-togethers and picnics with its large undercover tables and seating areas. During the summer, the ice cream van also stops by for special treat.
Parking is available at a small paid carpark, which is quite expensive or at neighbouring streets further up the road. Alternatively you can catch public transport – bus number 228 stops near the entrance or other alternate buses include number 233, 238 or 247.
On the weekends, the park gets quite busy, so it’s a good idea to get there early to find a parking spot and to secure a table. During the week though, you will generally only find a few mums with young kids or perhaps a local mother’s group.
