Description:
This park and heritage reserve has plenty to keep the kids occupied and is perfect for a family picnic, or a children’s birthday party.
Playground at
The park, located opposite Parklea Public School, includes a large covered shelter, a playground, and a generous grassed area.
The rustic shelter is located in an original farm shed and provides good shade on a hot summer day. It has a number of picnic tables, as well as two well-worn electric barbeques which are free to use.
Picnic tables
A short distance down a grassed slope is the lake. The lake is edged by trees and mangroves, and a number of ducks can be found on the shore (so remember to bring your stale bread to feed them!).
Glenwood Lake
Behind the shed is a good sized playground with two sets of play equipment. The playground has little shade and is not enclosed but includes three slippery slides, a set of swings, monkey bars and other climbing equipment.
There is only one bubbler in the park, so it’s best to bring drinks for the little ones.
Parking is limited to side streets, but on the day visited was plentiful.
