Description:
is a unique new program created by Early Childhood Teacher Jamie Lee who was the winner of the Outstanding Educator Award 2012.
Jamie has created what is known as a 'mini economy' a way of teaching children financial literacy in a real life, fun environment totally different to the normal school room.
Using play shops and a bank which children can work at make or store money in and buy things. It's all about preparing our children and teaching them the value of money and financial independence in the real world. This special learning environment has no textbooks, no exams or homework.
Jamie Lee's other staff include a language guru, a maths whizz and an artist. Meaning children can be involved in all different types of learning experiences that they will need in their future life. This is all things that they don't have time to learn in the classroom such as the importance of money needed to get things in life, the continuing importance of the value of financial independence and being money wise. This company aims to build our future entrepreneurs!
As soon as they start this unique learning experience children apply for a job based on what they are interested in and receive paychecks. It's all about empowering kids to learn through play and being able to make financial decisions in different scenarios. They also run creative workshops and holiday workshops.
As a passionate teacher Jamie Lee started this learning program because she saw a gap in our educational system. A gap that means our children are not learning some important life skills required to succeed in life and to do well in their future endeavours ,whatever they may be. She realises that the value of money and the real teaching of applying for a job, having a job and building up a career was not being taught in our schools hence why this became such an important and unique program that is changing the way that kids learn and play.
All this learning is happening in a relaxing, calming and enriching environment where it doesn't matter if you make mistakes, it's not about success or failure it's about thinking in proper and meaningful ways to solve real-life problems. The earlier that we start to teach our kids the better.
With small classes your children can experience one-on-one attention and can also go at their own pace so they won't be left behind like they would in a normal classroom environment.
How long do the lessons go for:
A typical lesson runs for an hour and a half during school teams only on either a Friday afternoon or weekends.
How are the different groups formed:
Children are grouped based on their interests and abilities rather than their age. You can contact to talk to them about your child's individual needs.
