The Riverside Walk along Parramatta River has been given an upgrade to incorporate a fantastic new multi-use playground. This is not your traditional playground full of boring old swings and rusty old slippery slides. This brand new playground is full of adventure climbing equipment for big kids and a fun water and sand play area for smaller kids.

The playground has been built on the slope of the hill from the river's foreshore up to the residential area of Elizabeth St. The steep slope has allowed for some very cool climbing and sliding opportunities for kids. Beautifully landscaped it is the perfect spot for kids to play whilst parents sit back and enjoy the views of the river.

There is a large scramble net where kids can race each other to the top by climbing like chimpanzees. Once you are at the top you can turn around and climb back down again or move onto one of the other activities along the playground.

For those of you who have young commandos, they will be able to practice some of their moves climbing up and down the long rope that hangs down the rock climbing wall. Some parental supervision maybe needed for younger kids who give this activity a go, as this is quite a vertical climb.

Another commando activity is to walk along the swinging rope bridge. This helps kids to build their level of agility and balance as well as being a really fun thing to do. Or if they prefer to be a fireman there is a large pole for them to jump down.

If your kids are slippery slide fiends, wait to they see the 4m long stainless steel slippery slide! Kids love this super duper slide, there are many squeals of delight as they glide to the bottom. Once at the bottom you can make your way back up to the top by climbing up the stepped pathway alongside the slippery dip. Don't worry if your kids aren't thrill seekers, they can still slide down the more sedate wide slide at the bottom of the playground - there is also plenty of room for adult bottoms on this slide!

All kids love mucking around with sand and water so they will have great fun scooping up sand in a bucket and then pulling the bucket up with a large chain only to let it all fall back down again - I lost count of the number of times my children did this! They can also pump out buckets loads of recycled water at the water pump which will give their biceps a good work out.

is a great place to waste a morning. Bring along the scooters and bikes and have a ride along the foreshore before or after your play. The ferry wharf is quite close by so you could also go for a trip into the city. There aren't any amenities at the park but Church St (also know as Eat Street) isn't too far away.
