Sydneys Best Family Beaches

When you have young children, a trip to the beach can be somewhat stressful. The good news is that Sydney has many great beaches, which are very family friendly, are sheltered, so there are no waves and most of them even have playgrounds and parks nearby. Here are some of my favourite beaches, which cater to families with young children and also their older siblings. So why not plan a day at the beach before the summer is over.

Clifton Gardens:
Address: Morella Road, Mosman
Beach features: shark net pool, pier from which older kids can jump, café/kiosk, toilets, showers, BBQs, undercover tables and seating, sheltered playground, track for riding scooters and skateboards, great for fishing, paid parking. More information about Clifton Gardens



Balmoral Beach
Address: The Esplanade, Balmoral
Beach features: Playground, lots of cafes and restaurants, promenade where children can ride bikes and scooters, toilets, showers, seating, paid and street parking. More information about Balmoral Beach Balmoral Beach



Shelly Beach
Address: Bower Street, Manly
Beach features: Kiosk and café, tables and benches, free electric BBQs, toilets, showers, some shade under large trees, great view of Manly Beach, lots of shells for children to collect, paid and street parking. More information about Shelly Beach



Little Manly Beach
Address: Stuart Street, Manly
Beach features: Kiosk and café, shark net pool, swings, grassy area, toilets, showers, playground and BBQs within a short walking distance at Little Manly Point, stunning views of Sydney Harbour, suitable for fishing, small carpark and some street parking. Parsley Bay Reserve
Address: Parsley Road Vaucluse
Beach features: Adventure playground, kiosk, large grassy area, toilets, bush, small car park and street parking. More information about Parsley Bay



Shark Beach
Address: Greycliffe Avenue, Vaucluse
Beach features: Shark net pool, café toilets, stunning view of Sydney Harbour, benches, park with large trees, street parking. More information about Shark Beach



Frenchmans Bay
Address: Endeavour Avenue, Frenchmans Bay
Beach features: small enclosed playground, near La Perouse Museum and Bare Island, cafes and restaurants, view of planes taking off from the airport and ships coming in and out of Botany Bay, car park, toilets. More information about Frenchmans Bay



Clontarf Reserve
Address: Sandy Bay Road, Clontarf
Beach features: Shark net pool, undercover playground, kiosk, tables and benches, free electric BBQs, toilets, showers, plenty of green grassy areas, paid parking & street parking. More information about Clontarf Reserve



Manly Cove Beach
Address: West Esplanade, Manly
Beach features: Shark net pool, close to Manly ferry, next to Manly Water Works and Manly Sea Life Sanctuary, toilets and showers, tables and benches, large trees offer shade, lots of cafes & restaurants, promenade where children can ride their scooters and skateboards. Kogarah Bay
Address Carwar Avenue, Blakehurst
Beach features: playground, free BBQs, toilets, café, plenty of grassy area, undercover seating, car park, bike and scooter track nearby and also a large oval, where children can play ball games. More about Kogarah Bay and Carss Bush Park
