Things To Do in Manly with Kids
If you are after an all day fun destination, then head over to Manly, where you will find not only several beaches, but also great parks, playgrounds and lots of things to see and do. Here are some suggestions on places to visit:
Manly Beach
Manly Beach is a popular surf beach and is divided into three sections. North Steyne, South Steyne and Queenscliff. Each section has its own Surf Life Saving club and patrolled area of the beach. If you are swimming, body surfing or boogie boarding, stay between the flags, but if you or your kids want to have a go at surfing you will need to do that away from the swimming area. Manly Surf School offers surfing lessons, so book in today and try something new.
Manly Cove
Located near Manly Wharf, Manly Cove is a great sheltered beach, which has no waves, making it ideal for families with young kids. For a day of adventure, catch a ferry from Circular Quay to Manly and spend the day frolicking in the sun. During summer you can also hire a kayak on the beach and explore the Manly area on the water.

Manly Sea Life Sanctuary
At the end of Manly Cove Beach, you will find Manly Sea Life Sanctuary, previously known as Manly Ocean World. Explore the wonders of the underwater world. Walk through the aquarium tunnel and watch sharks, sting rays and other sea creatures or wander over to the rockpool, roll up your sleeves and interact with a range of sea critters. If you are feeling brave, book in for a shark dive … you must be at least 14 years of age and speak English. Purchase your tickets online and save up to 30%.
Manly Water Works
Right next door to Manly Sea Life Sanctuary are Manly Water Works – three big slides and a spectator viewing area. Let your kids slide for a few hours while you relax at the café or on the beach. The slides are open from September to April, but check their website for exact dates and opening hours. Find out more about

Shelly Beach
Take a short walk from Manly Surf Beach along the promenade and you arrive at Shelley Beach. A great place to relax and recharge. As the name indicates, Shelly Beach is full of shells for kids to collect and make into sand art or take home as souvenirs. With plenty of sea life to explore, bring your snorkelling gear for hours of fun under water. For lunch, either cook some sausages on the free BBQs or head over to Shelly Beach Kiosk for some fish and chips. Find out more about
