A borderline park with top water views and ample playing space

This trendy suburb in Sydney's Inner West has plenty of fun playgrounds (both indoors and outdoors) to keep the kids happy, amused and entertained. These places are not presented in any particular order of preference.

Firstly, Bridgewater Park right near the Balmain Cove complex (on the cusp between Rozelle and Balmain) is a perfect location for families to enjoy some quality time together, especially on the weekends. With water views to boast, and Birkenhead Point marina right opposite you, the views are priceless. There is ample green space for a group of kids to play footy, cricket or soccer. Otherwise, for the little ones an enclosed playground is also available. There are ample BBQ facilities with adequate seating if your family is not into the traditional sit on the grass picnics. Ramp access back to street level is also available.

Elkington Park

A little further on in the heart of Balmain lies Elkington Park . There is an abundance of greenery, and a playground with swings is also available. A garden like atmosphere with pergolas is also enjoyed. Just as great for those family picnics. Many kids who live in the area also love bike riding around here. The Dawn Fraser Baths are conveniently located within the park, and in the summer months, many kids like to enjoy a real salt water swim here. Some local kids have also been fortunate to celebrate a birthday or two here before. This is also a family picnic friendly location, with park like seating and grassed areas inside.

Balmain Library is one kid friendly library with a dedicated kids and teenagers corner with bean bags, toys and other fun activities for the kids to enjoy, besides reading books.

If you're a local parent reading this, and perhaps your child either goes to Balmain Public, or the Father John Therry school, Gladstone Park is their extended playground for all different activities, from Basketball to skipping, and even for the odd game of tips. Then again, enjoyment can also be found here on the weekends and in the school holiday periods.
