Description:

I think I have found one of Sydney's best play grounds. Big call I know as we are blessed with many awesome playgrounds and parks but I think after you have visited Yamble Reserve (otherwise known as Livvi's Place) at Ryde you might be inclined to agree with me.

After you have parked your car you wind up the pathway to the fully secure playground. Along the way you will see all of the picnic shelters bordering a large patch of green grass. If you are visiting on a weekend you will notice that some poor sucker has been given the unenviable task of arriving early and scoring a shelter for a birthday party to be held later in the day. They will be there blowing up balloons and hanging streamers trying to pass time until all the kidlets arrive in a couple of hours to go crazy at the said birthday party.

Kids of all ages and abilities will love exploring this playground. Whether you have a little thrill seeker or a child with special needs there is a play space suitable for everyone.

All sorts of whirly gigs ( you know the ones which can cause little bellies to throw up after too much birthday cake) and climbing apparatuses are here as well as the good old fashion swings and slippery slides.

The flying fox comes with two different lines - one for those who have no fear and one for those who may need to be buckled up because of fear, age or disability.

The enormous sandpit has enough sand in it to fill nearly every pocket of every child in Sydney and the day we visited there were loads of buckets and spades to use but I'm not sure if these are a regular feature or just left behind by some forgetful kids (parents) from the day before.

Your children will love all of the rides, they will love chasing birds and they will love the small sensory maze complete with musical instruments and beautiful sculptures. If they look up into the sky they may even see the cow who jumped over the moon as well as a scary witch flying around.

When it's time to head back to your car you will walk past the excellent and very clean toilet facilities that are complete with a disabled toilet and also baby change table.

There is ample parking at Yamble Reserve but as this is one of the best playgrounds on the north side of Sydney it does have the tendency to be get very busy especially on weekends, so my advice would be to arrive early.

To make Yamble Reserve be the best playground ever, it needs a cafe. I believe all parents need to be properly caffeinated to survive a trip to the playground! Apparently there is a development application before council to build one - so fingers crossed it gets passed. In the meantime a coffee van does pull up to supply refreshments to needy parents.
